Sertraline (Zoloft®, Lustral®) is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) medicine given to patients who suffer from major depression. It helps balance the serotonin levels within the brain which can restore a more normal mood. It can also be effective drug therapy for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), posttraumatic stress disorder, or panic disorder. Some people may be prescribed Sertraline (Zoloft®, Lustral®) for social anxiety disorder or even to help treat premenstrual dysphoric disorder.
