Paracetamol (Panadol®) is a medication which some patients take as an alternative to aspirin to alleviate pain which is moderate in nature and bring down fever. It is believed to work by lessening the body’s pain stimulating prostaglandin production within the spinal cord and brain. Paracetamol (Panadol®) is thought to decrease fever by working within the brain in the area which controls body temperature. Conditions for which this medicine is taken include colds and flu, toothache, headache, colds and even teething. Paracetamol (Panadol®) does not reduce inflammation.
