Acitretin (Soriatane®) is a treatment doctor’s may prescribe to help treat severe cases of psoriasis. Psoriasis may bring about swollen red patches of scaly skin all over the body. When it is left untreated or is not responsive to milder treatments, it can worsen into thickened skin with patches of pus and scabs. It is most often on the back and chest, knees and elbows, scalp, and feet. Psoriasis can also appear on the hands and fingernails. Acitretin (Soriatane®) is not a cure of psoriasis but will help manage the condition and bring relief to patients.
